When to use it

Асуултыг энгийн өгүүлбэр болгож, тушаалыг to / not to-гоор дамжуулна

Тийм/үгүй асуултыг дамжуулахдаа if эсвэл whether хэрэглэж, асуултыг энгийн өгүүлбэрийн дараалалд оруулна.

Yes/No questions: if / whether
  • "Are you ready?" → She asked if I was ready. — Тэр намайг бэлэн эсэхийг асуусан.
  • "Did you turn off the lights?" → My mother asked whether I had turned off the lights. — Ээж гэрлээ унтраасан эсэхийг асуусан.
  • "Can you fix my phone?" → She asked if I could fix her phone. — Тэр утсыг нь янзалж чадах эсэхийг асуусан.

Асуух үгийг (what, where, why, when, how) хэвээр үлдээж, араас нь Эзэн бие + Үйл үг дарааллаар бичнэ.

Wh- questions
  • "Where is the key?" → He asked where the key was. — Тэр түлхүүр хаана байгааг асуусан.
  • "Why did the price go up?" → The customer asked why the price had gone up. — Үйлчлүүлэгч үнэ яагаад өссөнийг асуусан.
  • "When will the shipment arrive?" → She asked when the shipment would arrive. — Тэр ачаа хэзээ ирэхийг асуусан.

Дам асуултад дараалал энгийн өгүүлбэр шиг болно: асуух үг + эзэн бие + үйл үг.

She asked me where the bus stop was. — Тэр надаас автобусны буудал хаана байгааг асуусан.

Тушаал, хүсэлтийг дамжуулахдаа tell / ask + хүн + to + үйл үг (үгүйсгэхэд not to) бүтэц хэрэглэнэ.

Commands & requests: tell / ask + person + (not) to
  • "Wait here." → He told me to wait there. — Тэр надад тэнд хүлээхийг хэлсэн.
  • "Please sign this contract." → The lawyer asked him to sign that contract. — Хуульч түүнээс тэр гэрээнд гарын үсэг зурахыг хүссэн.

Үгүйсгэсэн тушаалыг дамжуулахдаа don't биш, not to + үйл үг хэрэглэнэ.

He told me don't open the window.

He told me not to open the window. — Тэр надад цонх онгойлгохгүй байхыг хэлсэн.

How to build it

do / does / did хасагдана, асуултын тэмдэг (?) тавихгүй

Дам асуулт нь асуулт биш энгийн өгүүлбэр тул do/does/did хасагдаж, цэгээр төгсөнө. Тушаалын цаг ухрахгүй — зөвхөн to / not to болно.

  • "Is the shop open?" → The tourist asked if the shop was open. — Жуулчин дэлгүүр онгорхой эсэхийг асуусан.
  • "Do not park here!" → The guard warned the driver not to park there. — Харуул жолоочид тэнд машинаа тавихгүй байхыг анхааруулсан.
